Foam Dressings

Wound dressings such as those composed of foam have a long history in wound management.  Current foam dressings are composed of polyurethane and are the preferred dressing for superficial and deep cavity wounds. Foam dressings do not promote autolytic debridement of very dry wounds and as a result are used for exuding wounds.  Foam dressings can act as carriers for medicine like antimicrobial agents, silver salts, and other bactericidal compounds.
